Bookworm Deluxe
Bookworm Deluxe is a highly addictive
game, as the author of this article explains ...
I recently discovered Bookworm deluxe. I played for hours
online before buying the home edition. Once I began playing
Bookworm deluxe on my home computer and never had to turn the
game off, I was quickly addicted. I played for hours every
night after work and quickly earned several million points. The
first full game of Bookworm deluxe I played on my home computer
ended with a score of almost thirty million points. I was only
able to get around ten million or so on the next handful of
games.
Around Christmas, I had several days off of work and instead
of doing something meaningful or productive with my time, I
found myself playing more and more Bookworm deluxe. A month or
so later, I had racked up over seventy million points. Then
something horrible happened.
My computer locked up and I could not move the game cursor.
The rest of my programs and applications were running fine. I
could not figure out what had happened to Bookworm deluxe and
tried in vain for hours to unfreeze the game. Months later, I
still have not been able to figure out what happened to the
game or why it froze. My perfect Bookworm deluxe game sits
frozen on my computer at just over seventy million points.
Since I had made it that far without dying, I kind of
thought that I could go forever. I just knew that seventy
million was the highest score anyone anywhere had ever had on
Bookworm deluxe. I found out that was not the case when I did
some investigating into the big freeze. When looking up
information and troubleshooting advice for Bookworm deluxe, I
found that plenty of people had beaten my score. I was
crushed.
I was, however, happy to hear that I was not the only one
who had experienced a deep freeze while playing Bookworm
deluxe. I found many posts from people that had encountered a
similar freeze. At some point, the game would lock up and the
user could go no further. Although I was able to play in the
action mode, the classic mode no longer worked.
I have not yet closed that game out to see if this problem
is a permanent one. I was so proud of myself that I just could
not let go of that high score. Apparently, after reaching a
pretty high score, you are more likely to experience this
problem with Bookworm deluxe. So after all, I felt a bit
complimented that I was among the few who had kicked so much
butt on this game that they freaked out the program. That, my
friends, should be viewed as a major gaming accomplishment.
